anybody have any experience with these?
does the 32mb cache increase performance much over the older 16mb models? i'm thinking of getting two in RAID0. Also another newb question.. what's the best HDD configuration to get the best general system performance? i mean, should i have my OS on a separate HDD and my games on another? does it make a difference? |

THe more cache it has the better it will run.
__________________However it isnt that large of a performance gain. I usually instal my operating system separate from everything else. Nothing goes into the drive with windows. Sometimes it helps to create a partition 30 or 40 gigs and only use it for windows. However, if you keep your hard drive defraged, then you generally dont have to worry.

I'd still go for the Seagate 7200.11 over the Samsung...
It also has 500GB with a 32MB cache... and ZZF has it for $84.99 + shipping: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...dlist=celebros

If you already have one of those, get one more, raid 0 them, 128kb stripe.
Then make a system partion(so you can format, and reinstall your OS without loosing your stuff) The 32 mb cache will be fater than 16mb cache, only a little thought.
