Default Hard drive at 13.5m/s anything I can do?

I have a 750gb wd 16mb cache sata drive.

Im getting a 13.5 m/s read time on it, its SOOO slow

Before I formatted from xp to vistax64 then back to xp the drive was fine, I never noticed it being slow, I even ran some games off it, including conan beta which is very demanding

After reinstalling xp pro 32, I installed my newsgroups etc and went to download and noticed my files were decoding slower than my download, this never happened before, so i switched the download cache to my raptor and they all decoded in 5 seconds.

So I install Cod4 on the POS drive and it doesnt even run I thought my vid card was broke lol, just pure lag. Reinstalled on the raptor , game is butter.

Point is this hard drive was not that big of a POS prior to the format/reinstall
I installed my MB drivers etc, Raptor is flying a top speed, what the hell is this drives problem? Even my external drive kicks this things ass.

Try using a different SATA port and cable. If that doesn't work, try a low level format (this will take over an hour and erase all your data).

If its still bad after doing both of those, RMA the drive.

its actually connected to a really high quality sata cable unlike the raptor (for whatever reason) its in the same port as before the format but I will try your suggestions, I figured all there is to do is standard procedures but thought Id ask
