I got a new 1GB Transcend MicroSD card. I put it in my phone and formatted it and is well. I can move files too and from it using my phone. But when I put it in the SD adapter and try to read it with my PC windows says it's not formatted and asks me if I would like to format. I click yes but after trying to format it wondows says unable to complete the format. I have tried a load of other programs and none of them will do it. Some of them say it's write protected but the lock is not on on the SD adapter. I verified that the adapter works fine by putting the card in my camera and it formatted it and saves pics to it. My card reader is fine because it recognizes that I put the card in. What gives? Why can't I format this stupid thing? Any and all help would be appreciated!!

Bump, can't think of a solution off hand, but I've learned not to use Transcend cards, you get what you pay for. I've had to RMA a CF and an SD card from them. I would get rid of it or get a refund. You can get a 2GB SanDisk MicroSD for $20, 1GB even cheaper.

it is formatted for the phone, which sounds like it is probably a filesystem that windows can't read.
basically, you can have it formatted for either the computer or the phone, not both.

have you tried just putting the card in the adaptor, stick it in ur comp, then go to my computer, right click on the drive then select format... DONT CHECK THE QUICK FORMAT OPTION
I had 1 before that wouldn't format but i was trying to do it with the quick format... once i tried it without quick format it worked

What file system did you format it with? FAT, FAT16, or FAT32?

Try formatting in a distro of linux.
I had a similar situation where a flashdrive wouldn't mount properly because of hidden files that windows couldn't show. I popped it in ubuntu, formatted, and all was good. Hope this helps.
