Default How would you backup 800gb?

So my question is this, I would like to image my drives so I can preserve my data. I checked with Acronis and their True Image software needs about a 4:5 ratio to backup.

At that rate, I would need to buy another huge drive. Why wouldn't I just make my array redundant at that point?

Anyway, how do you all recommend? This would be a regularly scheduled backup/image so nothing that takes absurd measures. Thanks.

Buy a 1TB drive and call it a day.

if you want cheaper....get a few 500's or so and use them as spanned drives

I would probably sort through it, delete the stuff I don't need.

Maybe you should look at some of those 1TB external Drives.

I suppose you keep looking for the software that'll fit your needs.

Regardless, you are more than likely going to have to purchase an external hard drive, I'd suggest go with one that supports eSATA.

You don't back them up..

You just sit on a beach for a whole day thinking, where did your life go wrong that you have 800 GB of files to backup (jk.)

Buy an external one... and well... that's pretty much it, having 2 500 gb internals don't make much sense to me.

5 1/4 inch disk's, you will only need about a million of them, LOL

that's a lot of space to back up, maybe buy a TB external drive, or internal probably wouldn't matter, and, back that thing up. (pun very much intended)

I say external because you could just turn it on when your going to back up things and then it could be off and in a closet the rest of its life. this is also the reason your array would not be redundant.

External drives are garbage, transfer rates are 10-40 MBPS...

my Internal backups transfer at ~100MBPS

I would first wonder how the hell I filled up 800GB of space. Then I would delete the stuff I never used.
