Default Delete hidden partition?

Ok so my computer crashed while running a disk partitioner upon bootup. I had to reinstall vista but I can't get rid of a partition that is doing nothing but causing problems.

I bought my computer with no OS, so this is not an OEM recovery partition. The only place I can see it is in the Vista Recovery CD. It shows up as Boot(X and when I try to format it, it wont let me because "it holds files that windows is using" even though it has nothing to do with vista.

I try Paragon Partition Manager, Diskpart, and a couple others and nothing worked. I even tried the Gparted Live Cd and it wouldn't even boot up it said there was some kind of error.

HELP ME GET RID OF THE DEVIL PARTITION

Try using a linux live CD, or if you have another computer available just connect the hdd to that one and do a full format from that computer.

Low level format on the entire partition.

Active Kill Disk works great.

Boot X: I am pretty sure is the DVD, don't format it...

Unless it says something like located on drive 0 whatever... but I am pretty sure that is just the DVD.

Boot X is the local disk that is created in RAM to hold files usually.

The hidden partition won't show up in most programs of Live CDs for fear of formatting. Running low level utilities usually takes care of that.

If you have access to a cdrom, use this:http://dban.sourceforge.net/

it happened to me, it will wipe EVERYTHING from your disc. Enjoy

edit: also, if you are having partition problems even after a dban, you can use the http://www.supergrubdisk.org/ utility and you can wipe your MBR or change it to whatever you want. Its very easy to use and comes with a tutorial as well.

DBAN would also be a good choice for completely clearing a disc.

Burn yourself a Gparted live CD, and you'll fall inlove with it. I've been using it on God knows how many occasions, and it's awesome. Basically a bootable CD that boots you a Linux with a partitionning/formatting tool that allows you to format into NTFS as well. That'd be my pick... But if you said there was an error, what was it?
