For my second build, gaming oriented, I was leaning toward this HDD

My faith has been shaken and I have started to consider the lesser valued (my opinion only) 7200.10 series http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148136 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148262 Should I be worried about getting the 7200.11, does it really have issues, or am I being paranoid? Personal experiences are valued, plz offer yours.

I read somewhere that the .11 was much better than the .10 and that they fixed the failing issue. Let me see if I can find that link.

7200.10 500 gig doesn't have any better than the 7200.11

The main difference is a larger buffer 32 to 16 mb, which doesn't really seem that significant, but for 10 bucks more why not? However, I was reading the egg's reviews on the 7200.10 500 gb and they said pretty much the same as the 7200.11, again mainly failure after a short period of use.
__________________I'm just wondering if there is a issue I haven't heard of yet. The 500 gb seems to be the best price/capacity value, but if it's going to take a nose dive on me then of course I am going to need something else.

Your third link, the 410AS, is essentially a 250GB .11. It uses the same 250GB platters that the 7200.11s use.
__________________Your middle link, the 500GB 7200.10, is slower than both the other drives you list because of the lower platter density. Platter density has a far larger performance impact than the buffer size.

I have 3 x 7200.10 320 gigs that have ran fine for over a year now (no xp with the seagate 500 gig though)

I don't absolutely need segate, i would like the extra 16 mb buffer for only a couple of bucks, but I'm not willing to risk reliability and lose all my stuff. Maybe the WD you recommended would be better since the 32 mb buff doesn't help enough to justify the risk. thx
