Default Flash Drives at work.....

I have a flash drive that I would like to use at work, however my personel direcory on the network is the F: drive and when I put the flash drive in it takes over as the F: drive making it impossible to transfer information from my personal directory to the flash drive.

I do not have admin privlages so I am unable to use "Disk Management"

Any Ideas?????

If your computer runs a script to map the F drive every time you log on then all you have to do is right click on the F drive and tell it to disconnect. If it does not remap automatically then your will have to remap it manually, but you probably don't have the permissions to do that.

Here's a trick. Plug in TWO flash drives. When the one takes over F and the other G, un-dock the F. Then see if your normal F comes back.

Transfer data from your Flash to local... then transfer from local to directory.

Other than just taking the data off the flash drive and putting it locally on the computer, the only option you have is changing the Drive letter that either the map drive, or the flash drive assign to. It stinks that you don't have administrative priviledges.

Thats what I did, I just changed the drive letter so it wouldnt conflict with the assigned network drive. IDK if you can do it without permissions though...

You can try changing the drive letter on your home PC, and see if it retains the drive letter at work.
