hi i have come across alot of ide harddrives ther about 20 gig each what im wondering is can i connect about 7 or 8 ide harddrives togather and use them as a storage medium? because that would be pretty cheap storage for me
from what i know is a pc will support up to 4 ide harddrives i was wondring is there any card or controller that can up that number to say 8 harddrives??

With this controller you can hook another 4 disks up. Also, you cannot put them in RAID, and the four 20 GB drives attached to that controller will be recognized as one 80GB drive. Or don't put them in RAID, and build a software RAID array in Windows.
With this many drives (and esp. since they're so old), I advice strongly to put anything important on them. The controller costs $22 shipped, and you might need to get an additional IDE cable or two. Plus, how are you going to fit 8 drives in your case? Note that for $55 (shipped), you can get 250GB on a single drive. Saves you a LOT of hassle, and it's only like $30 more
