hi people.
is it true that solid state drives are limited on a motherboard that has the ICH9 storage controller controller on them, it's just that i have a ssd in my comp and it just seems to stick now and again when is doing stuff. i did a test with hd tach, to check to see how things were going, and im not to sure if it's right just looks odd. what do you think is my bord bottolnecking it's speed. up down up down = the seek times 0.4 not 0.1

Hmmm... I've seen the ICH9R transfer faster than than 200MB/s in RAID...
I'm not sure of the individual port bandwidth limitation but I would assume it is closer 3GB/s than 130MB/s. What drive are you using? Have you compared benchies from other sources?

Not sure if you tried turning write caching on for the ssd, but that should give you a substantial boost in performance. Rightclick the drive - properties and under the hardware tab.

Its better than a 150gb raptor
Now if only they would come down in price a bit 128gb would be perfect for os and a few games.

just odd .
did a small test copying files across, turns out that the ssd stops starts stops starts when its copying stuff. my guess more than likely there is no cure for this problem, the only thing i can think off is if i update my sata drivers but that's it.

Check your power management features. It may be shutting down your hard disk when there's no activity.

seems that when the system reads from the drive its fast but when it writes to it its slow
like the hd light comes on ,and then it stops then starts, ITS JUST ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHH SLOW. COPYING STUFF TO IT SUCKS starts stops for 1 second starts stops for 1 second. lol my western digital drivers are faster than this.
