Default Random Pauses, Possible dying CD-Rom

I am using a DVD/Drive(Pioneer DVD) and a CD drive(E drive ) which i had well since 2000. I notice for the past few days, i get random pauses on my computer, when online, playing games, just sitting here typing on overclock.net lolz. After the pause stop, i notice i see a spinning cd next to the arrow.

When i woke up today and turn on my computer, i get a message that says, no CD/DVD cd rom etc has been found, continue without cd etc.

So i restart my computer again, and the message is gone, however i only see the DVD/drive, but the bottom e cd rom is not there, then the pauses start again and the e driver magically appears.

Could it be the e drive, should i replace it?
I was thinking about removing it, then testing stuff out and if the pauses are gone, well it was the e drive.

Your computer is too slow to run a CD drive.

Problem Fixed:

It was my old 2000 CD-Rom Drive. I bought a DVD/Combo(35 dollars) to replace it. I remove both drivers, reseated the slave/master jumper , put them back and now i am using a DVD Writer and a DVD combo drive. Everything works very smooth, and back to normal.

Nope. I thought my PSU was dying tho, but i took it apart, clean it and is working just fine. It was just my old CD drive finally dying.
