Default HDD not found.. need help quickly

well, as my other computer started malfunctioning, and i need a few files from there by today, i had to take the old IDE drive from there to my current comp.. but the problem is, that BIOS and boot-up stuff recognizes the drive and its specs and everything just fine, but in windows it dont show up anywhere.. not in my computer.. not in device manager.. not in hard-disk management thingy..

the current specs are my sig rig, and the HDD is a IBM Deskstar IC35L120AVVA07-0

and i have tried rebooting a few times, and also do re-scan stuff in device manager.. checked all other categories in device manager.. and i need the few files today, and i need them quick

Have you initialized the drive in drive management dude? I made the same mistake the other week with a 750GB Samsung Spinpoint.

Try moving the jumper on the IDE drive to CS (Cable Select), if it isn't. I had a similar problem once, and it was because the IDE drive's jumper was set to 'Master,' and when I went to move it to another computer, it conflicted with another HD in the computer that was also set as the 'Master' drive. I simply set the jumpers for each drive to Cable Select.

Dia's probably answered your question.

Go into device manager and usually it says "IBM Deskstar blah blah" and has a little yellow exclamation point there, right click and hit "initialize drive" worked a treat for me

well, what i said in the first post, the drive dont show up in device manager or anywhere within windows environment..

however, the HDD worked fine on my other setup.. so i just copied the files with a USB stick, so now there is no need to hurry..
