You forgot maxtor.

I've literally replaced hundreds, if not a thousand dead Maxtors. Replaced maybe 20 WD's and I had my first Seagate die last week.

My old 80Gb Hitachi IDE. Lasted 3 years then sounded like someone creaking nails down a blackboard. The platter had half dislodged itself. How I will never no but it wasn't right from the start. The Irony? It was my backup drive.

My Fujitsu Lifebook hard drive died last year after 4 years of faithful service. I tried to partition the bad parts out so I would only have good parts, but it was too far gone.

Sounds like an outside issue caused it.
