Default Reformatting Maxtor 60g Hdd

Ok here is the question. Should I use the disk that came with the hard drive or just use windows to format and partition the drive? Also Microsoft also suggests on their site that if your hard drive is smaller than 200g to use the FAT file system. Is there any difference in running FAT or NTFS on a 60 gig harddrive?

Heh.. I dunno anything about FAT or NTFS (NOOB!!!) sorry...

But I think reformatting when installing Windows is a better idea than to have a separate software do it. They all do the same thing, but just in case some junk remains on the HD by using the software.

Just use the windows format. I have a maxtor 80Gb and it worked fine. And, I'm assuming yr using XP, half the fun of XP is the NTFS file system. FAT sux compared to it. It's lots more reliable, it is faster at accessing large files, doesnt fragment as easily, ect... By all means, use it!
