Default SSD or Raptor for OS

I'm sure this has been talked about but most of the posts I found are old kinda so I thought I would ask for my self. The price for a 64G SSD and a 150G raptor are about the same now and my old 76G raptor is kinda slow to the new drives. I want this to run the OS only my games or on my AALS WD. So what would be my best choice truly or would raiding 2 AALS be a good idea. Also I have never raided so keep that in mind also

I have both the Velociraptor HLS and a Samsung SLC 64gb SSD.

I have tried both and prefer the SSD for OS. The SSD is INSTANT whrere else there is a little delay with the Velociraptor, and more so if it has been idle.

Both are really fast, but the SSD still wins.

SSD is better than a velociraptor but 2 AALS drives in RAID-0 would be good also and RAID is easy to set up

Ever where I read its so back and forth SSD slows down over time but in the end is faster. Raptor last longer and is just a lot easier to deal with. So hard to pick a way to go. Is most of the problems with SSDS gone.

SSDs will always be at least a little faster than VelociRaptors and especially normal Raptors like yours. The only SSDs to avoid are the early releases with the JMicron 601/602 controller, which is infamous for freezing and stuttering. Samsung, Intel, and Indilinx controller-based drives are what to get. As for slowing down over time, the TRIM command can do a lot to alleviate this issue; you NEVER want to defrag an SSD as that has the opposite effect.
