The Caviar series is pretty damn good. The Caviar Black 1TB has 1,249 reviews on Newegg right now, and averages a 5 egg rating. The Caviar 640GB is the same way.

The Spinpoint 1TB has 681 ratings and a 4 egg average.

owning both, you can't go wrong w/ either...w/out any hdd benchmarks and through every day use, I can honestly tell you that...I have no idea which one is faster, but they are both quiet and reliable (not that I can hear them anyway =P)

I have 3 spinpoints and 2 blacks

Tom's charts appear to say the spinpoint has greater read/write speeds.... however I heard WD has a longer warrenty.

Yeah, I've never had a HDD fail on me so...

My modded Xbox is running a Sammy and I've done so much to that damn thing I can't believe it still boots up for me.

I had an F1 failed on me. Replaced with the caviar 1tb and is absolutely flawless to the point I installed it on my server. I bought a 640 version also for another built and just as impressive. Warranty is 5 years.
