What notebook? Only RAID if hardware support, software a waste. SSD will always win on RA.

Is this your laptop? http://www.overclock.net/system.php?i=38409
If so, probably the SSD unless you're going to fill all the space and don't have any ext storage. SSDs will perform better than most 5400rpm drives, if not all.

No 14 other than maybe a toughbook type holds two HDD's let alone RAID's.

yeah i completely forgot about that.
but there's this space large enough i think to fit another hdd. but i'll probably have to wear off the warranty first before doing so. so here, is 64gb enough for os? or shall i go save for a 128gb?

Im actually about to go this route in a couple of months when i get my window 7 disk, i have a fx-7811 that has 2 bays for a hard drive, one of the bays has a 250gig momentus and the other is empty. Also this lappy has raid support if i ever want to raid 2 SSD or 2 Hdd. For the OP 64 gig SSD will definately hold your OS and some application and have room but if you suspect you might need more go for the 128gig SSD. I've seen some laptops that if you have a removable DVD SATA drive you should be able buy an adapter to put an additional storage drive but you lose the optical drive.
My upgrade for my lappy is 1 SSD either 64 or 128 gig for the OS and keep my momentus for storage. If ever the SSD gets cheaper and have bigger capacity i do 2 SSD in a raid array. Right now im still looking for the right SSD since many have been comming out and prices has not dropped since the delay shipping the intel G2 to fix the problem. I am leaning toward the intel as of now. Well good luck on your decision.

well the intel ones are way expensive here.
hmm well i think the 128gb is already big enough to consider as a storage disk if i'm only limited to one hdd. ill probably just get an enclosure for my scorpio. my main storage is in my desktop anyway. thanks for the help. reps to y'all
