Default best way to clean/wipe/erase hard drive?

whats the best program to ensure my hard drives are 100% clean before i sell/give/donate them?

those will completely wipe out the drives so whoever they get donated too cant recover anything?

Well technically nothing is "unrecoverable" when wiping via software methods. Darik's Boot And Nuke will get you as close as you can.

I don't know if "nothing is "unrecoverable."" Active Kill Disk says their software destroys all data on a disk, and they have an extensive list of organizations who agree with them (mainly U.S. government organizations). I use Active Kill Disk all the time and it works great. It can be found on Hirens Boot CD which also has some other HD tools.

Active KillDisk works well. They use plenty of options for speed and also security of the method. They use DoD method as well as the best, Gutman method, but it's also the slowest.
