Default How to check for bad HDD?

ok the health area in HDtune never says anything. So i downloaded diskcheckup from WD. What am i looking for to tell its bad?

All manfgs have a diagnostic program that you can get at their site.

Always run the long test to get a complete view of your drive.

There are a few tools that test the HDD properly (long test), such as Seatools or Hitachi Drive Fitness tool. These programs work for all brands, so it doesn't matter what brand your HDD is.

On Hiren's boot CD are several HDD testing tools:

I'd go as far as saying that CD is a must have

You can use whatever you want, but if you're going to RMA it, you have to use *their* tool to validate the drive is bad..

I use western digital drive diagnostics for windows. I have found it to be accurate indicator if the drive is bad or not.
