Got a 1.5TB extra storage drive. I just had to reformat and now the HDD seems to stop spinning and then start again every few mins, kind of like my external drive does. Is there some setting that would have reset in my OS that will improve the performance of HD? The drive is only a couple of months old, so I don't think it is dying.
I think my main HDD is about to crap out (clicking and such) and it would kind of suck to have both drives go out at once. Also, it seems both my HDDs are running a lot cooler than before. They both are cold to the touch, whereas before they were at least warm.

go to control panel them click on power management. In power management, find the turn off hard disks entry and select a longer period from the drop down menu. If that doesn't work it is probably a hardware failure or something

Exactly *which* 1.5TB storage drive did you get?
Most green drives are designed to power down when idle, regardless of what the OS tells them. ..a
