Default Need help setting up first time raid array!

Hey guys,
I have been trying to decide on how I want to build a raid array that I want to set up. Since I have never set up a raid array before, I have lots of questions. My first question is can I put more than 2 drives in a raid 0 array on a controller like the ICH10R or the SB750?

Just so that everyone knows which drives I'm going to be using, here they are:
1 x OCZ Vertex Turbo 30gb ssd for the OS
2(or 3 if possible) x 1tb Samsung Spinpoint F3's in raid 0 and short stroked for games
and my current hdd the western digital 640gb caviar black for storage

My final question is how and in what order would I set this up? A complete walk through would help tremendously and would be greatly appreciated(aka +rep). Thanks guys!

How many sata ports do you have? Do you have raid 5 capability? IF so I would recommend that if you run more than 2 drives in raid.
Basically, you enable raid in your bios, then you install the raid drivers when you install your OS.

Yes, you can run more than 2 in RAID-0 with the onboard controller - plenty of people running 3 here.

Make sure, however, that you have enough SATA ports on the board you plan to use.

Setup is easy, just put your BIOS SATA controller into RAID mode, then reboot and press CTRL-I during boot. Create the array, select the drives you want to include, and reboot - you'll have a new "disk" to initialize and partition as needed..

yes you can use more than two drives in raid -0
I personally chose to set mine up in raid 0+1 using 4 hard drives, get the speed of raid 0 with the security benefit of raid 1

I have 6 sata ports currently but when I upgrade to my new rig early next year I'm going to have 8. So I have enough. The reason I didn't want to go raid 5 is because of its loss in performance over say a raid 0+1 array or raid 0.

Well, I was honestly thinking about going that route but then it would be pointless to short stroke because then I would only have a small amount of space to work with for the entire array right? So if I go with 3 drives in raid 0 and use one as my backup/storage drive, I can short stroke the raided drives for games and leave the storage drive at the full 640gb. And besides, 3 drives in raid 0 is faster than a raid 0+1 array
