looking at purchasing an SSD drive for OS and applications only, will use another for storage. I am looking for a good SSD for the moeny, "best bang for the buck" idea, I saw this one, what are your opinions http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...440&CatId=4212
From what I have read, a 60GB is a good size for OS and apps, but would a 30GB be to small.

Egg has the same one for $230, LOL
If you get that one I'd call egg and have them match it then you'll get free shipping and no tax I know tiger likes to charge tax to most states. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227373 EDIT: They only charge tax in FL, IL, and NC

Look for one with an Illindex 'Barefoot' controller to avoid the ''stuttering'' problem that most JMicron controlled drives seem to have. The Corsair Extreme (X32,X64 etc) is the only one off the top of my head that I can remember with it.There is a OCZ drive (Which is basically the same) but I cant remember the name

Here's all the 2.5" SSD's with the Indilinx controller at Newegg (priced lowest to highest):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...se&Order=PRICE I use a 32GB SuperTalent SSD in my Netbook, and it's plenty of room to fit Windows 7, Office 2007, and the other base programs that I use. I may even install Photoshop & Premiere Elements on it. But as it is now, I'm using about 15GB of space. Hope that helps!

if you want a cheap ssd for os/apps look for a 60-80gb mlc ssd
tbh 30 is too small I personally wouldn't bother going under 80gb

It's definately not NewEgg's policy to price match but as you can see it does happen.
__________________Here's a chart that shows the SSDs and their controllers. Depending upon your OS and programs you might be able to get by with 30GBs but I would definately go for something 60GB or larger. SSDs work a little different from mechanical HDs and I wouldn't want to use more than 75% of it's space and expect it to perform at it's peak.
