In the video above when he goes to resize the OS partition at around 3:15 you notice how in yellow it shows the occupied space and down below in the table it says used and unused space. Well the thing is when I go to use GParted on my 2 partitions, my storage partition has the yellow so I can resize it. But my OS partition does not and it will not let me partition it at all. Any suggestions on how to fix this as its really starting to annoy me...

What OS are you trying to use GParted for - in other words, what OS is installed on that - Vista?
Remember GParted is primarily a Linux tool - even though you can format NFTS. So, it might be that Vista locked down the primary boot partition when it created it (minimum space needed would lock it I would imagine). How big is the OS partition you're talking about? If you're using Vista, and want to format FAT or NFTS... I'd go into Vista, Disk Management - and it will easily resize your OS partition (unless you're trying to make it smaller than the minimum needed). remember it's probably accounting for extra space needed for page/swap etc.... Try that see how it works... Then go back to GParted and create the other partitions you wanted (for Linux boot??) PS - if it IS for a Linux partition, and it's your first time - I would recommend using a fresh HDD... you don't want to screw up the whole drive and lose Vista while experimenting..

I partitioned 3 drives (mutiple partitions) using GParted - using the initial auto configurator to deploy those Linux setups. Worked like a charm.
But for my NFTS partitions, while initially creating them in GParted - usually I'd just tweak them quickly in Windows. Saying that, Gparted is really easy to use. Again - if it's for a Linux installation - let them figure out the primary sizes... when I tried partitioning it out - I think I used extreme overkill on the different partitions...but with 1.5TB on that drive, who really cares.

Yeah, that's weird man - I've never heard of such a problem when you're talking those sizes... let us know - maybe someone else will tell you something...
But... if you're having problems in both GParted and Disk Management - I'm thinking maybe there really is something wrong with your HDD...

If so then theres been something wrong with it the entire time as It only let me partition a max amount when i first installed vista. which was like 150 GB and make a new partition from that. that was the max. I dont think that would declare a bad hard drive.

From the Ubuntu forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=534711
Notice the thing about page file sizes - that's what I was getting at...it might be physically located at the end of that partition. Try defragging - which should move all the crap to the beginning of the drive and try again.... One more link to check out: (Sorry, I had too!) http://lmgtfy.com/?q=partition+won%27t+shrink
