Hey
Ok basically my 2 x 160GB HDD just died
So i bought a brand new Western Digital 500GB as a replacement
So i run HDTune and the results seem way off
Is this drive defective?

Am i powering it properly?
This is my first time but using one fo these but i am using a Sata power connector that looks like this

That is the correct power connector.

Hmmm.. it shouldn't be transferring that slow but are you noticing a slower bootup or anything running slower?

Your link is dead to the pic though. Reupload and I'll take a look at it.

Was this an OEM drive? You probably have AAM set at the lowest, so it keeps noise down at the price of performance. Go check your AAM setting.

HD Tune will show you AAM settings.

My access times on one of my 640gb drives was like 17ms before I adjusted my AAM settings.

I think you need the pro version. My HD Tune has a separate tab for it. The pic of yours does not.
