Right, what is the best way to do this? I have got my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 as my main OS and I dualboot it with Windows XP Pro x86. I am wanting to copy files from my Windows 7 to XP and I was wondering, what is the best/safest way to do it?
Obviously I could put them on a USB disk or external hard drive, but if possible, I would like to skip that step. On my Windows 7, I can see the files on my XP. I created a folder in the the windows xp drive (with windows 7) and then copied the files there. I booted into XP and went to the folder and when I wanted to get to the files, I got a message saying something warning me that the files are from a different source, or something like that. How would you all do this?

i don't know what the issue is... so long as the files are visible and accessible on both OS's, there shouldn't be a problem. Can you explain the message in more detail? Can you simply say "ok" and continue?

Basically what T3h_Ch33z_Muncha just said....
What happens when you click ok? Also, is there a network in your house where you can just transfer files to a networked computer and back?

You might get that message if you have 2 versions of the same program.
Like on one PC you might have Office 2003 and the other you have Office 2007.

We do not have a network.
I will copy some files later on and then say what the message is.

I think the message is probably NTFS rights related ...
You'd need that folder to be accessible to unauthentified users Hell I'm getting NTFS rights access issues within my own single OS ... For instance I can't open documents and settings but if I type the whole path to my profile I can access it I hate the restrictions put in place since 7, or was it vista? I can't change NTFS rights on documents and settings either, access denied. Even though I'm using an admin account

It's just a standard warning that the files came from another computer and may have malware. Just ignore it and keep on going.

Yeah I know the trick but I'm not sure that's really wise on a system folder. Maybe someone can confirm/infirm?

I think the reason I got a message was because I created a folder in the root folder for XP. Then I tried running a patch for a game from there.
I created a folder in the XP My Documents folder with Windows 7 and put some video files and a few programs executables there. I ran them all with no problem. Seems like I had everything right. Just that I had the folder in the root folder. Putting the folder in My Documents "fixed" it.
