Default problem with sh-223F samsung DVDW drive

i have owned this drive for about 4 months, and it has been working beautifully. any help with this would be much appreciated!

however today my computer does not recognize the device. I open device manager, and the device is there, however it has the exclamation point showing an error. I click to fix the error and it says the drivers are either corrupt or not working correctly, so i try to re-install the drivers and it gives me an error, saying that it could not complete properly.

I went on to samsung, and tried to download the firmware updates, however these do not open up...i am suspecting a problem with windows 7 compatibility

here is the errors i received copied straight from windows

Hmmmm, they're just regular RAR/ZIP files and opened correctly with Vista/WinRAR.

Do you have this problem with all RAR/ZIP files?

AAR, you must have had it working before and this page says it's compatable.

Error code 39 points to this registry fix from MS.

This usually happens when you install/uninstall some 3rd party video/audio software.

If you're using system restore you could go back and try a restore point when the drive did work but I'd try the registry fix.

Let us know how it works out.

heyyy.

sorry i was a little slow getting back to yah. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

it was the registry error, and you were right on, I had just installed NTI media maker, did a full clean uninstall on it, and used the microsoft install cleanup to remove every piece of that. Real glad I used the trial version and didnt just pay a bunch of money for that software.

you are a lifesaver! another reason why I love these forums!
