Default Any difference

Will I notice a difference between this and the WD black, thinking of getting a black, or go with a green for music and videos

Those are pretty good results I don't think you will really feel a speed difference between the black and green models.. I would go for the Black if you are using this for games, but if its just for storage go for the green model since its better for the environment and uses slightly less power.

Yeah...those results are alright but that big drop at the end looked a bit scary...
Any way, WD Green is...a bit shifty. Spin speed varies from 5400 to 7200RPM to use less power so your performance might vary if you get that. The WD Blacks consistently go 7200RPM and is one of the market's most popular drive 7200RPM Drive.

But if you're only using it for music and video, there isn't much point going Black, just like Rick Arter said. The WD Green will give you more than enough.

OK, first of all, the people who are telling that the performance is ok are wrong.

16ms access times? Large dips in performance across the media? NOT OK.

The green doesn't vary its rpm, it spins at 5900rpm. The performance is ok, but I wouldn't use it for my OS.

You can get the WD6401AALS, the WD Black, for $64.99 and free shipping form Newegg right now with promo code. If this is going to be for your OS then definitely grab that.

Remember, the most important thing in how fast your computer seems is access times. That is why the Raptors seem so fast and the SSD's feel so fast.

Difference when opening maybe (random access) but not while it's playing videos or scrolling through pictures (unless he goes through like 10pics/second).

If you really need that extra speed then go for the black. The Greens only save a few watts compared to the black anyway.
