Default New External Hard Drive

I'm possibly looking to getting an external HDD for my laptop, for the likes of backing up valuable stuff when formatting etc. I've got to the stage where my current 320GB of storage is always near full capacity, so any recommendations? My budget would be £40, if that is possible.

You can get a bigger drive for your notebook ,and get an External case(can't remember what they are called) for 2.5" Hdd's and use your current HDD as a backup It would cost more but i think it's worth it

You can get 1TB for around £70 on Amazon, which would be good, but I am not sure of their quality, plus they're a bit too expensive for me atm. Basically I want it to have a greater capacity than my laptop one, but I do not want to replace it, it will be used as a backup, extra storage medium for media etc.

Example 2
