Default Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB vs. 1TB

Which drive would perform better, the 500GB or 1TB? Or do they have equal performance since they both utilize 500GB platters?

I'm planning to buy two of whichever is faster and setup them as RAID0.

They both utilize the same 500GB Platters.

I would just go for whichever you need.

If you need more storage then go for the 1TB's, if you are on a tight budget, then the 500GB's.

this.

For the Raid-0 I'd get two x 500gb simply because they're cheaper.

Yup. But getting the 1TB in RAID0 would have the same performance as 500GB in RAID0, correct?

For the most part yes. They'll be slightly slower as they have two platters to work with instead of just one. But that won't kill your performance or anything like that.

Also, Price Per Gigabyte is in the 1TB's favor.

Oh ok. I still want the 500GB but I'm having a problem of buying one in our country. Only the 1TB is available here, argh.

Sorry for double posting but how much slower would be the 1TB compared to the 500GB based on benchmarks?

Yup but in benchmarks, will the 1TB really be slower than the 500GB?

I get 145mb/s avg on my 1TB F3s on RAID 0 and people say its slow for a 32mb 7200rpm hdd. I went from a single 500gb WD 16mb 7200rpm hdd running 80mb/s to a RAID 0 F3s running 145mb/s hdd. I guess I felt the instant boost of speed and I'm quite happy with my set-up.
