Default SSD vs Barracuda.11 RAID0?

Hello, people.

I'm planning (at long range) to update my sig rig, specially GPU and storage.

I have two options:

1.- Pick a 1Tb drive and use it as Database, while RAIDing the actual drives

or

2.- Pick this SSD [link] and use one HDD for programs, and stuff, and the other for database.

What's the fastest, and mor ereliable option?

That Mushkin is an Indilinx controlled drive, one of them (non-raided) is faster than any 2 SATA HDD's in raid0 (even velociraptors, I just sold my 2), access time is 0.1 vs 7-15ms. For a database though you could also consider the Intel X25-m, it has higher IOPS than the Indilinx MLC SSD's.

SSD should be more reliable than HDD, no moving parts. How long they last depends on how much data you move through them.

I'm getting them at mid-range time, so... there are still drives that get worn for data transfers? :/

Anyway, I won't be getting two SSDs, just one... they're too expensive now. Following the price cuts since they appeared till now, what would be the prices around June of the next year...? if someone can calculate it.

The only one I've paid attention to is the Intel - they reckon its good for 5 years at 100GB/day. I think one of the indilinx drives is guarenteed for 10 years - but the drives haven't been around that long so who knows? My estimation on prices would be a wild guess aswell

I'm using a SSD for the OS and a few Apps. And have a 320GB HDD for my game installs and am very happy with it

I was running SSD's in Raid 0, but as "Trim" doesn't work with Raid. I went for the above config for now
