And yeah you can partition, its a good way to keep things organised. You might wanna use your old IDE drive as a data drive and use the new disk as your OS drive.

In all honesty, I don't think it really matters all that much. The WD Blacks are (relatively) good drives (depends on who you ask).
__________________Would be fine as a replacement for your 200GB IDE, and you can use your old IDE as a backup drive. Personally though, my backup drives are at least the same size as the combined space of the internal drives on the system. i.e.e if I have 2x 500GB drives internal, my external drive (eSATA or USB) is at least a 1TB drive. And me being paranoid involves multiple backups. But that's me. =P

Your wd black, if it was me i would be using as my main drive partitioned off 80/90gb for OS. To bad you didn't get two 500 and put it in raid0 that would be a very snappy set up.
