As you are running the Maxtor 500's, I'd imagine that the result you are getting could be about right. I have not seen the results from other Maxtor's to compare them.

It could be higher, depending on the controller you are using too.

That guy is using 2 x Seagate 500GB Raid 0
His speeds are about the same as mine but how is his burst rate so high?

And his line is much less jagged than mine ?

Uses the AMD SB750 controller. Not sure if thats attributing to your uneven speeds.

The burst speed is not something I would worry about. Its how fast your parts "talk" to each other. Better controller better bursts, RAM can make a difference too, I believe. Please correct me if wrong anyone.

Burst rate is essentially meaningless. Don't worry about it at all. Same with cpu usage - almost always this is wrong as reported by most benchmarking tools.

Your controller is limiting you though - as efly pointed out the graph shape tells you this.

What are the settings you used for the array (stripe size mainly). Also what caching and read-ahead options do you have set?

set cache to write back then re-test.

most onboard controllers don't have read-ahead cache options, but just thought I'd check as I am less familiar with AMD chipsets.
