Default How to Upkeep a SSD

I just started up my new SSD (X25-m) and I need tips on how to upkeep it as I've never owned a SSD before.

What programs should I install?

How do I enable TRIM?

Do I need to run the little CD that came with my SSD?

What programs should I or should I not install on my SSD? (Should I put all my programs on it? Like avg/steam/office 2007 etc)

Well that should be a nice way for me to find out if I remembered everything right:

- TRIM should be enabled on it's own if you're running Windows 7, so you don't have to worry about it.

http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/wind...ed-tweaks.html

And this article should hint you a bit at what you could do to tweak it.

Also, you really want just your OS, games and programs that you use a lot on it(depending on the space available to you), everything else gets sent to data disk. Make sure your Pictures, Movies, Music, etc are all re-mapped from C:\Users\blablabla to your other drive, as well.

Did I do this right?

Make sure you have the latest firmware for the drive(just came out a week or 2 ago), and you are good to go! Also, turn off superfetch, the page file, and indexing. Anything that constantly writes to the ssd is not great for it.

Crystal Disk Info will show it, 02HD is the latest. You dont need to worry about windows defragger/superfetch/ready boost because win7 disables them anyway when you run WEI and score over 6.5, also with 6gigs your pagefile shouldn't be heavy use.

If you got the Intel SSD Toolbox on the CD maybe don't use it, its mucked up my restore points - its known to do it and Intel have removed it from their site.
