Now I love the new gen 2 intels, but I am trying to get a guess is to if the SLC is worth the cost to get one of those compared to the MLC?

Honestly its not worth it. Cost will gradually come down and tech will get better. Save your money and get a MLC.

X25-M G2 only comes in MLC.

The controller is as/more important. 160GB for sure. It's faster than the 80GB version and supports TRIM by itself.

I'd say get 2 80's if tonytrim works as well as it is supposed to.
