Default G80, Geforce 8800 GTX in UK for £500+

Thats a suicide price. I could by a whole new system for that lol :

Quote:
OVERCLOCKERS might get the biggest batch of G80 cards in the UK. Despite that, the price is going to be super ridiculous. Hold you breath and read it: £500 Sterling. That's some $950.865 US Dollars or €750.
The Geforce 8800 GTS will cost as much as Geforce 7950 GX2 costs now, so around £380 to £400 pounds sterling again - much more expensive then anywhere else in the world.

Despite the super high price where the UK chaps blame 17.5 per cent VAT, the supply will be limited. An informative channel chap told us that the smaller fishes in the UK might not get more than two or three cards and they can sell dozens of them.

We heard that only 200 cards will be available for the whole UK for the launch date and you can bet that there are more than 200 chaps who want to get one, out of the 60 million UK subjects.
Rest here :http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35466

ya its freaking insane. Guess I am just gonna buy a 7900 something. Anyway the point here is ATI will stomp Nvidie I believe. Because they will release their new cards and probably make it 200 bucks cheaper (thats still expensive!!) and everyone will buy that.

I dont believe there is a chance at ALL that ATI will have a cheaper solution. But I do think that the high Nvidia prices will make people think before dropping such an amount on a Dx10 card. I think there is widespread speculation that R600 is going to top the 8 series. At this point, I bet there are a lot of people saying "well, if I am going to drop this amount on a nice Dx10 card, it might as well be the BEST, not just the ONLY card out there".

Dont bet on paying less than 600 dollars for an R600 of any sort at release. Thats just the most likely scenario, as unpleasant as it is.

However, I wouldn't rush out and hit up an 8800 just for that reason. You can get a more powerful card, when there is an actual RELEASED API for the Dx10 features.

I believe its going to be cheaper than the UK place, maybe they'll charge that in UK, but only because they only have 200 for the WHOLE country..

I bet they'll be about 650-700 in the USA, if not i'm not spending nearly 1,000$ for a 3d card.

Lol no chance id even consider buying one of those cards, even if i had the money too spare. I dont value the performance gain i estimate over my 1900xt for £500. Go R600 :P
