According to the reviews, with a decent air cooler you can get 3.2ghz by just upping FSB. That would be plenty to max out any game with a G80 =)

But some games are starting to be coded for quad-cores already (there was a link here about it earlier, not sure where) where 1 core is for physics, other cores are assigned different functions, etc. In that case, a quad core would pwn a dual core big time.

Did you see the benchies for 3D rendering?
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...px?i=2866&p=13 That's were some real gains are! And indeed, multitasking like crazy. I am perfectly happy with my E6600 for now.. don't see a reason to go Quad  Also, this was an interesting comment about AMD's Quad Core: Quote:

How on earth are you going to be able to overclock Barcelona if it features independent clocks? From the looks of it the clocks are generated by internal PLLs and no longer based on the clock input from the HT links.
