It's a combination of a great CPU and motherboard. I mean who would've thought a CPU could OC 100% at below stock Vcore (It's stable at 3.23GHz 1.3v, stock is 1.6GHz 1.325v). I'm sure I could have gone high but either my mobo is limiting me or I'm hitting a FSB wall (I think it's the FSB wall). With a 10 Multi the E2180 should do pretty good and you might actually find the limit of the CPU rather than hit a FSB wall first (maybe). By the way if you haven't boughten a mobo yet ZZF has my same mobo for $76.99 after MIR shipped free (rebate expires 8/31/07). It's a great motherboard all I had to do was raise the FSB and SPP voltage .1v to reach 400 (1600MHz FSB). I hit a FSB hole at 1200 something FSB but I tried 1333 and it worked fine (It's a CPU thing it has nothing to do with the mobo). One thing I love about it is the unlinked memory option which is nice if you don't have 800+MHz ram.

With a P35, once can reach higher frequencies, for sure. Or even a P965.

No...they're all dual-core.

However, as is typical with Intel CPUs, that 1MB cache cripples them. You'd be better off with an Athlon X2.

LOL, pwnt.

I wish I could find the review where they compared the E2160 to the X6800. They clocked them to the exact same speed, and they performed nearly the same on the tests. Anyone have the link?

I have one of these (2140, not the 2180) waiting for me on my doorstep for when I get home.

I have a budget build for a friend of mine at work. Before I hand it off to him on Monday (today is Friday where I live), I will flog it to see what I can get out of it.

It's on a Gigabyte P35 DS3 with 2 Gigs of G Skill DDR2-800 and an 8600GTS.

I'll keep you posted.

It is. I have a E2160 with typical 965 mobo. It is running very stable at 3.4G but I hit the wall at 402
