Default E2180 now available

Buy.com has the NEW E2180 for $89.28 shipped after the 5% off coupon (Thanks highwhey for finding this). It's also available at Newegg and Clubit but after the coupon it's cheaper at Buy.com. The E2000 series are Core 2 Duos (Intel calls them Pentium's but we're not stupid) with 1MB L2 Cache and 800MHz FSB (compared to a Conroe with 4MB L2 cache and 1066/1333MHz FSB). Here are the specs of all the E2000 series CPUs:

E2180
Clock Speed: 2GHz
L2 Cache: 1MB Shared
FSB: 800MHz
Multi: 10
Core: Allendale

E2160
Clock Speed: 1.8GHz
L2 Cache: 1MB Shared
FSB: 800MHz
Multi: 9
Core: Allendale

E2140
Clock Speed: 1.6GHz
L2 Cache: 1MB Shared
FSB: 800MHz
Multi: 8
Core: Allendale

No...they're all dual-core.

However, as is typical with Intel CPUs, that 1MB cache cripples them. You'd be better off with an Athlon X2.

x2 might beat them befor you overclock them and they are a nice steping stone to get a c2d befor you can afford a quad or a higher up c2d dual core.
