THis is AWESOME for Crossfire solutions. If I get another 2900xt I wouldn't dream of running it with a P35, as the second card is 4x and RUNS THROUGH THE SOUTHBRIDGE through to northbridge....the performance is terrible. So terrible that when I was running my X1950 Pros I actually had WORSE performance with two cards than one.....yea.
However, for people running a single card configuration it would be quite foolish to get this card, unless you just think you'll look cool with that in your sig.
THis chipset is nothing short of great, as it supports full 16x/16x, not to mention PCI-E 2.0. Those who fail to realize these technological advancements need to just keep their comments to themselves, as people with knowledge just sit back and laugh.

As valid as all these arguments are, what will take advantage of dual 16x lanes?
2900xts Crossfire will, especially those going for the benchmarks. Most extreme WR people run IDE drives and OC the PCI-E (on 1.0 spec) buses to 150+ MHz. THey don't have to worry about unstable PCI buses because they are running IDE. THis accounts for more PCI-E bandwidth as well as a more stable OC at post 1000 MHz speeds.

Except for the fact that the Asus Blitz Formula (P35) runs crossfire at 8x8x (similar to the Asus P5W DH Deluxe) as a result of their crosslinx technology. And the board will hit 600 FSB!

Yeah... but did ASUS mention the latencies in the NB that they jacked up to do that?

ASUS loves to give people high FSB. They don't tell them how they do it though.

ASUS = :turd: ever since the post 975X days.

Does anyone else find it wierd that Intel is launching it's newest "forward thinking" chipset on boards that are basically only meant for Crossfire, a technology now owned by AMD, Intel's competitor? You'd think it'd be the other way around, and that they'd give the business to nVidia and try to starve AMD of much needed money.

Thats kind of odd because the HardOCP review of the Blitz Formula had it as the fastest P35 board at stock and overclocked of all the P35 boards they have tested (And they have tested most of the main offerings).

So my question is, if the board outperforms all of its competition, provides 8x8x for crossfire, does the increased NB latency you mention really make any difference?

I can't find this "Blitz Formula" but I gather it is full of ASUS gimmicks and will cost as much or more than Intel's X38.

"The Bottom Line

The ASUS Blitz Formula is easily one of the best motherboards we have ever used. It scored higher in the benchmarks, set new overclocking records, and did it all while being a feature-rich solution with stock water cooling for the northbridge that enhances cooling across the entire platform. If you want a great enthusiast motherboard today, and want to experiment with water cooling, the ASUS Blitz Formula should be at the top of your short list. That is if you have the cash for it. This motherboard makes you realize just how much life is left in DDR2"

$270 CAD (not sure what the USD prices are but obviously a bit less).

The 8800 series suffers without full 16x.

The last gen ATI cards didn't do as bad, but still slowed down with less than 4x.
