Of course newer cards are going to begin to outperform it in some areas. Do you really think nVidia just keep the same design for every iteration of their chips? Of course not. Features are being added all the time. You have to be pretty ignorant to think that the designers/developers at nVidia sit their playing with themselves all day until they decide to release another card to fill the void between the 8600GTS and 8800GTS.
I know Nvidia comes out with new processes and features, but they're not going to sell a card for 200 dollars if it outperforms their current offerings at 300 dollars.... thats dumb.

Quote:
Oh wait, whats that? 8600 is better at Bluray/HDDVD playback than an 8800? But isn't the GTX "UNBEATEABLE"
I hope to god you're not in the market for a new 200+ dollar video card for the sole purpose of watching blu-ray at 35 frames instead of 30....

Quote:
Face it. The GTX is getting old.
I don't need to face anything, I hate the GTX, it IS old, but its still better than the 8800gt

Quote:
Oh and the comment about Santa/Parents, dont even go there coz the minute you make a personal attack on me, I'll be reporting your post. Why? There is no room or need to drag anyones personal circumstances into any debate on this forum unless there are special circumstances. It's a sign of someone unskilled and incapable of participating in a debate where they are unable to provide adequate facts/proof and want to elevate themselves above the opposition through a mindless barage of insults. Not clever or funny.
Lmao, I like how you tried really hard to sound smart in that last paragraph...
and I'm not dragging your personal circumstances into anything, unless of course your parents are dead, or you really are 13 and still believe in Ol' Saint Nick... I simply asked you if you believe everything that "reputable" sources tell you...

*Edit: Oh, and the fact that you said I wasn't clever or funny makes it 10x better, because that lets me know that you knew it was, and your trying to shut it down....

Ok, I actually feel like getting in the middle of this one. Guy who goes by sanchez- Anyone who would actually try to be a jerk like you are right now, probably is 13-16 years old. Little kids are nice to people, and anyone over 16 realizes that there isn't any point in being a jerk, because all you do is make enemies who will try to cut you off at the knees. So, to make this simple, you're not impressing anyone by ****y remarks and bold disrespect. So stop.

Btw, since when does someone saying something isn't clever or funny mean it was clever and funny? Also, it really wasn't clever or funny, just more of a 13-year-old joke.

It blocked out c.o.c.k-y.

And on a lighter note... nevermind, can't think of anything.

lol, Can't call it bs if you don't get it. Either way, the truth is that we'll just have to wait until it comes out to see the real performance. The chances are that the benchmarks are real, even if the prices aren't. If they're putting in a new card with 112 shader processors, then those benchmarks show that it's in the right place. Between the old gts and gtx. Old gts has 96 shader processors, and gtx has 128, so yeah, it should be right between the two.

Anyone disagree?

You're gonna make me cry man

I have no friends (on OCN)

If this card coming out really does have 112 shaders, then these tests may be less fake than I originally thought... but EVERY SINGLE article ive read so far has told me otherwise.... everyone is saying these are a 8600-8800gts gap closer... because if i remember correctly, the 8600gts has 32 shaders, and the 8800gts has 96, which is a more important gap to close than the one between the gts/gtx because the majority of consumers aren't willing to spend more than $200 dollars on a video card

I'll be your friend.

I saw that bit about how it was supposed to be between 8600gts and 8800gts, but I don't think it's going to end up working out that way. If you want to put it between 8600gts and 8800gts, you would need like 64 shader processors, but since it has 112, that sort of defeats that purpose.

Or also maybe they'll put 64 shader processors in it and then put the 112 in the new gts. I heard that idea somewhere too. I sure hope that they get the 112 in the gt though because then they'll have made what equates to the best bang-for-buck card since the 7600gt.

Either way, i'll probably end up buying it.

you mean since the 2900Pro, right?

and I think its going to be the first option you said, based on what they've said about how they're pricing the gt

but theres always hope though, if these do have 64 shaders, then you can SLI them and itll be roughly equivalent of 1 GTX and if they are priced at $200, then you can get that performance for only 400 dollars!

hooray for the green team! (but ATI is still better)

It's amazing how many people are blindingly accepting those benchmarks as fact, and how others are blowing them off like they're nothing. The truth is:

WE DON'T KNOW YET
