Upcoming 8800GT sighted
Formally known as G92, the lads over at TechConnect have sourced a nice pic of NVIDIA's soon to be 8800 GT graphics card which will take on AMD's upcoming RV670 based Radeon HD 2950. Like RV670, it appears the 8800 GT will also sport a more compact single-slot cooling solution which covers the entire PCB, also hiding sight of a 6-pin PCIe power connector. Clock speeds are said to be somewhere around 600MHz on the core and 1800MHz memory. source: http://www.tweaktown.com/news/8286/index.html

the confirmed 112 pipes and 1500 mhz shader clock makes me start to believe these benches aren't probably that far off.

lol...you know what. i ranted in another thread. but im starting to believe i am quite wrong. this card does sound very promising. by that i mean it may very well have a chance at knocking the GTX off its high pedestal.
depending on how they test up/bench...well we'll see i guess.

yeah a stock Ultra would score 11K or so i rekon, running @ 612/1080. sounds about right i guess. my GTX when benched stock scores a little over 10K. but that was @ stock CPU not 3.6ghz..so yeah that is weird. EDIT: ahhhhh. lol. they added some Eye candy. thats why.

See, this is exactly what happens when there is no damn competition!
__________________Nvidia would have released a new line of GPUs by this novemeber as they usually did for the past 3 years for Geforce 6 , 7 and 8. Heck, i was very excited from the start and anticipated some geforce 9 news. But alas, i guess i will have to wait 6 more months

theres no point in releasing a new line yet anyway, not because of a lack of competition, (lack of competition being an arguable point), but because to create a new line, would mean adding in DX 10.1, Pci-E 2.0...this apparent EDram. features that no one even needs or is able to utilise yet, nvidia doesnt need a new flagship. not yet.
