Samples of Samsung’s new GDDR5 chip have been delivered to major graphic processor companies last month and mass production is expected in the first half of 2007.
got to love the year typo

based on the date being the first of this month. and it saying 2008 down further. = typo

i wonder? gddr5 for ati or nvidia? nvidia dont even have gddr4 out yet...

maybe they will just skip 4?

also. 4x the speed. bandwidth wise? but what about the latencies? would be nice to keep them even/lower with gddr3/4... (while keeping the BW that high! ^^)

looks like since my evga stepup will expire before the 9 series (under the assumsion of February) il wait it out for gddr5 :P

which is more than four times faster than that of memories in state-of-the-art game consoles today.
They're even comparing RAM to consoles these days. This pisses me off.

And state of the art consoles? Pfft. These writers know its almost 2008 right? The PS3 has a GPU that came out in the middle of 2005, and the cooling system on the 360 was an afterthought. Ironically, the Wii is only one I'd really consider state of the art - at least it brings a completely new way to play games to the table.

If the Wii is state of the art, then why does my old Computer (Athlon XP 2600+, 6800GS, etc) outperform it?

Jesus, Samsung, let us get through GDDR4 first...

You can thank Sony and Microsoft for this.

You can't possibly get a comparison between those . Not even with the PS3 or 360 which are closer to P.C standard. (but this is exactly why they SUCK :P. i want a console. not another mediocre P.C wannabe. the public also think the same ((subconsciously)) judging by Wii sales.)
