Faulty? Are you kidding? Everyone I've talked with that had a pro was able to overclock theirs to 800+ on the core. Stock is 600, and 725 for the XT.

The 512MB version, however has GDDR3. The 1GB model has GDDR4.

Don't forget the HD3870 either, it's got GDDR4, I can't find a limit to it yet (stock is 1200/2400).

It wouldn't work. The memory controller isn't compatible.

Looks like we got ourselves an upset ATI/AMD fanboy here. Face it, ATI screwed up with the 2900. None of ATI's cards can touch the 8800GTX, let alone the Ultra.

I'm going by what AMD said. And thanks for the info on the 3870 man! I'm hoping to get one if i get an overclocker like the one your talking about i think I'll be pretty freakin' happy. Is that with any voltage or cooling modifications? (And one of the 2 cards i spoke of was the 3870, no need to remind me but thank you anyways.)

Stock cooling. The HD3870's have a seperate copper RAMsink that looks like it cools really well.

HrnyGoat, read: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...preview-5.html

Keep in mind the HD3870 is half the cost of a 8800GTX.

Benchmarks only make it look better, but when you said 1200/2400 you realize (and i'm sorry if this sounds insulting but you must be making a mistake) unlike the memory speed you don't double the GPU speed to get the actual speed.... But then the stock is around 800mhz so that can't be it, please explain how you got it so high and tell of your temps and such.

?

850/2400(DDR), or 1200MHz actual clock on the RAM.

I'm not an idiot, although I sound like one a lot.

In the future my may not want to use X/X for actual and effective. Most people would use X/X for GPU(clock)/Memory(effective.) And it gets confusing if someone uses it for anything else. I was shocked as hell when i saw 1200/2400, lol, it was like the holy grail had fallen in front of me.

I was just talking about the memory. In my sig it's core/mem. I covered the core in a few lines, then the memory.

If it could hit 1200 on the core, I'd be happy.

Never said it was a bad card, I'm just disappointed that ATI still hasn't bothered taking the crown from nVidia. Its not the old ATI anymore, AMD has changed them
