Sorry I couldn't resist. Getting back on topic. I do agree with you. If the news article's original source is a foreign forum post, it definitely seems shady and unreliable.

Seems to me that both Nvidia and ATI have hit a sort of wall in the GPU development. There hasn't been a new Nvdia GPU in 14 months and ATI's is slower than that (14 month old Nvidia GPU).

We need Intel to come out with its GPU to move things along.

Isn't the G92 brand new and the G84 & G86 being around 8 months?

Those are simply manufacturing refreshes (from 90nm to 65nm). Not new GPUs.
