Default [ExpRev]8800GT, how much memory do you need?

Quote:
In our test, we want to show you which memory size is suitable for 8800GT. So in the test we have three 8800GT. One is Leadtek PX8800GT 256MB, Inno Geforce 8800GT 512MB and GainWard 8800GT 1024MB. Because GainWard 8800GT 1024MB is a factory Overclocked version, we flashed its BIOS, lower the frequency to 600/1800/1500MHz(Core/Memory/Shader).

LOL 1024 is worse (to be fair they underclocked it) if they increase mem speeds it will outperform the 512.

Ya underclocking the memory was probly unfair cause 1gig would run looser timings so higher mhz make up for it compared to the 512 and 256.

Well yeah, this benchmark proves that the extra memory in 1024mb begins to take affect in higher resolutions...starting at 1920X1200.

I'm sure there is also a lack of driver support ATM that can really improve the benchmark scores.

Especially on DX10. I'm sure a little OC'ing would make up the difference.

Isn't a 1GB 8800GT severely limited by the fact that it's 256-bit though?

I didn't even know that there WAS a 1 Gig version.

Heck, I've even been watching this card as a potential upgrade.
