Ummm, yeah, because there were tons of PS3's on the shelf during Launch in Q4 '06. What rock were you under? That's like saying the Wii sales are shouldn't be looked at because they were near impossible to get at the same time. The availability of the 360 was no worse or no greater than that of the PS3 during their respective launches. The 360 had the advantage of getting to market first and had no market competition in the form of next-gen consoles to compete with, in fact it still had a hard time keeping up with sales of the original xbox and the PS2. The PS3 launched during the same holiday season as one of the biggest selling consoles (the Wii) while contending with an established next-gen console in the 360. Availability of the console is negligible in this discussion.

ps3's have always been there waiting for the consumer to pick it up, i have NEVER gone into bbuy, walmart, or kmart without seeing them in stock. it is important to this conversation because its a comparison of first year sells, everybody always says that the ps3 is selling along the same trend as the 360 did, but thats not a fair assessment because the 360 was NOT always available during its first year

im not considering the wii in this discussion because its targeted at a different group of gamers

fact is, people dont want the ps3 as much as they do the 360 or the wii- bottom line

really, because during Q406 and probably until EOQ207 I never saw stockpiles of PS3's. Consumer availability is impacted by product supply and market demand. The PS3 was hampered by both in the initial launch, there was moderate demand and constricted supply. I again reiterate that availability plays a negligible part in this discussion, as I don't for a second believe it was any more difficult to obtain a X360 during it's launch season, than it was for the PS3 during its. In fact the only console I didn't get during launch was the PS3, though that was because I didn't want to spend that much money at the time. I was able to get both the X360 (RROD and long forgotten) and the Wii during their launches without reasonable hassle for new consoles.

Is that what I said? No, perhaps you should read what I said again, I didn't get a PS3 during launch but that was because of the price not the availability.

To the post above^^ In my town of about 150k with 3 walmarts, 1 kmart, 1 best buy, 1 circuit city, etc etc. You still cannot find the WII and the 360 is usually sold out at 3 of the 4 stores you go into at any time. The ps3 on the other hand has always been in piles even at the front of the store at the local best buy. They cannot even barely give them away here and this is a college town. Sony acts like the more they sell, the better their console gets...which doesnt even begin to make sense. I personally dont care if they sell 200m consoles, I will always support PC, after all, it will be the only medium still here in 10 years.

You're post had nill significant value to the conversation, and most likely made everyone a little dumber.

I call BS, I believe the Wii statemtn, but I don't for a second believe that anywhere is sold out of 360's. Perhaps 360 HD DVD add-on drives or maybe a specific "version" of the 360, but 360's as a whole there is no way.
