Who the heck cares if a bios screen looks good. You'd need a bios chip with a larger amount of ram to store a gui like that. = more expensive bios chips which in turn means more expensive mobo's?

I don't want my BIOS ridden with buggy GUI's and other gimmicks. BIOS is for function, not to sparkle in your eyes. These PC gamer want everything to be flashy and gimmicky, makes me so sad.

They can just choose not to put this tech into inexpensive budget mobos.

EFI allows for faster boots.... and more importantly, device drivers that are independent of OS. That means you can load drivers with EFI and not worry about the OS driver compatibility.

A BIOS with a GUI has to be bigger than what floppy can hold, right?

As long as it's stable and bug free. Many have enough problems with traditional BIOS as is (looking at you ASUS
).

Radeon X700 replaced by 8400GS, PC actually works flawlessly now. 1GB Xtreem died, took X-Fi with it. PSU's fault. - Ordered new RAM and PSU. PCP&C 1KW + 2GB OCZ 800Mhz up and running.
