I really don't see the need for 4-DVI ports though. It would seem to me that the ventilated PCI bracket would be more useful than the opportunity to hook this thing into four monitors... besides if a person was going to hook this into four monitors they should be capable of investing in a head2go unit rather than wire up four monitors into the card itself.

For the price of 4 monitors, couldn't you just buy a hi-def tv?

The 2 GPUs are still linked via Crossfire technology.

Still... asking even two GPUs to power 4x1600x1050 pixels, you might as well ask it to divide by zero.

Also, the cooling on this card will undoubtedly provide cooler temps for the GPUs than the stock configuration, but it's also not venting any heat out the case! So, your GPUs are cooler, but all of your other temps go up... This is why they should have left at least a ventilated bracket.

sorta.

i mean, i know that crossfire has had its distinct advantages for nearly as long as it's been around.. and i do emphasize "nearly". but the undeniable fact is that for the last couple of years, nvidia has just been delivering a better overall product. things are starting to turn around for ATI, though. nvidia is backing down on their development (or rather, resting on their laurels, if you will), and this is giving ATI enough time to get back in the game full-force. the performance of the 3870X2 vs nvidia's 9800GX2 is a very crucial factor for ATI, and i hope that they can manage to overtake them despite having a slower card, with the superior scalability of crossfire. if not with two GPUs, they should be able to take the crown with four.

and of course.. time will tell.

Actually, I don't think you can crossfire these, when it came to the quad systems, it was stated that you could still only use two of these cards, because one acted as though it was two crossfired cards already, so most likely, you will not be able to use two of these, not set in stone of course, so just wait for the first website to try to put two of them together.

You are mistaken. It was stated that you can't quad-crossfire the new X2 card, for a total of 8 GPU's working in unison. You can, however, crossfire 2 cards, fot a total of 4 GPU's, but I believe it still requires a CrossfireX board (790).

Yep, I forsee some ATI switchage around Nehalem time. Lets see how the G100s look.

Sexy looking card though. I like the sort of industrial look it has going on.
