ATI may not have anything spectacular in the mobile market but they are kicking Nvidia's butt in market share. They have a 3600 which should be about par with the 8600, I don't keep up on the mobile market much so i don't really know

Is that why Forbes named Nvidia the company of the year?

wow, when i first saw this thread I was like darn my gpu is already outdated then when I started reading it I was like wow maybe they just accidentally put a 9 instead of a 8 for the series number lol. Woot for older technology thats cheaper and just as effective!

Because nvidia is wiping the floor with ati everywhere else?
ATI holds the lower end laptops, the X1250 and X1400s that all the cheapo laptops have. They're outselling the 6100s and 6150s from nvidia. I think intel's still first, but ati's second and nvidia's third.

Nope, GeForce doesn't get DX10.1 until G100, G90 is still 10.0.
The only thing I can think of for them to release this series would be maybe an improved PCB design. At least when ATI releases more of the same it has some new technology in it
