Why cant they make some kind of quad-core processor video card with a gig of RAM that will perform at the same level????????? Who has 1500 dollars for video cards??

So all the 9800GT is, is my 8800GT with the ability to do Tri-SLi. Actually thats fine with me, as there is no reason to get a 9 series card.

this is disappointing but not completely surprising if it turns out to be true. the g92 should have been the 9 series in the 1st place. instead nvidia tried to milk the 8 series out. the 8800GT should have been the 9800gt and the 8800gts 512 should have been the 9800GTS IMHO. Maybe they didn't do this becuase they didn't have anything ready for hte mainstream? IDK... but the "tick tock" strategy previously mentioned intel uses seems to work fine for them because the software isn't ahead of the hardware. unfortunately the GPU market seems more demanding. Also the lack of competition from ATI might not be spurring nvidia on to make better performing products :/

This is what AMD did with Athlon64, they thought "oooh, look, we have the better product!" and sat on it, and then when its time to change "Oh crap! We forgot to make a new Product!"

It seems like the GPU is going modular. Multi-GPUs, bridge chips, etc. For easier manufacturing or because they are running out of innovation?

Wait until Intel launches its dedicated GPU and both AMD and Intel launch the GPU on a die. That will probably scare Nvidia into actually coming out with new products instead of selling the same thing over again.

Did Nvidia take a class at EA for selling the same product again as a different product (BF2 -> 2142)?
