Default [VR] AMD To Cut 3650/3850 Prices

Quote:
AMD plans to cut the prices of the Radeon HD 3650 and HD 3850 in early March by as much as 20%. The reduction is to better position their products against the GeForce 9600 GT. There will be some price cut on the HD 3870 as well but not too substantial. Also the HD 3870 X2 will come along with the new PLX chip that supports PCI-E express 2.0 somewhere in April. We can expect healthy inventory of the HD 3000 series in the market by March.

Anyone here want to speculate on what type of game would benefit from the pci-e 2.0 bridge? I've heard different things. Some sites say it doesn't matter, and some mention it will when games start taking advantage of it, but no one really describes how.

Wow, so the HD 3850 256 will be like $120? Wow, I'm so selling my P5N for a P5K.

Just think, for the same price as an 8800GT you could get CF 3850s!

Lol, Nvidia seems far away from getting pwnd. They were when the 9600GT wasnt out. Two 9600GT's perform better than an HD3870X2 (In games aparently, not in synthetic benchmarks like 3Dmark06)

If I can get some money together maybe I'll go crossfire. Performance of a GTS for less!

Another 10-20 dollar drop for the 3870 is something I'm expecting and would welcome. More than that of course is just fine by me!

Ya two 9600 GT's beat a 3870X2 but the 9800GTX cannot?? explain this. and who knows if the GX2 will ever get out, we could cook an egg on that thing.
